Assistant Professor / University Assistant in Computer and Biological Vision

The University of Innsbruck has an immediate opening for an Assistant Professor in computer and biological vision, situated at the Institute of Computer Science.

The position is initially limited to 6 years, but can lead to a permanent position of Associate Professor subject to a successful performance evaluation. The earliest possible starting date is January 5, 2015.

Responsibilities and Opportunities

  • Research that contributes to and covers areas in both computer vision and biological vision, including computational modeling of biological vision at the level of neurons, neuronal populations and/or visual cortical areas, and computer vision inspired by neuroscience, with a particular focus on vision for (animate and robotic) activity
  • acquisition of research funds
  • teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the Institute of Computer Science
  • supervision of students and Bachelor/Master and doctoral theses
  • academic self-administration

Your Profile

  • Doctoral degree in computer science or a related field
  • extensive research experience and interest in the aforementioned research areas
  • relevant scientific publications in international, refereed journals and conferences
  • established research collaborations in both computer vision and visual neuroscience
  • experience in teaching at the university level
  • experience in supervision of Bachelor/Master theses
  • experience in leading scientific research projects
  • international mobility, experience and visibility
  • fluency in spoken and written English
  • proven ability to work in a team and strong communication skills

Our Offer

The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for this position amounts to € 3.483 per month (14 times per year). The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before. Furthermore, the university has numerous attractive offers.
