Ph.D. Student Position in Machine Learning for Robotics at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

About the position

The research activity comprises the integration of robotic perception and execution mechanisms for task-oriented object manipulation in everyday environments. The (negotiable) focus is on affordance-driven object part segmentation and object manipulation using reinforcement learning.

The monthly gross salary is based on the FWF salary scale for doctoral candidates ( Note that the gross salary per month is paid 14 times per year. Furthermore, the university has numerous attractive offers (

  • M.Sc. degree in computer science or related areas.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Solid background in machine learning and good understanding of robotics, and computer vision mechanisms.
  • Programming skills in Matlab/Python/C++.
  • Proficiency in writing and speaking English.
  • Independent problem-solving skills.
